ParkingPlease note Justin Dunn's September 3rd email regarding parking:
"On behalf of the Facilities Management group, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back for another exciting year at the College. As you are aware, the College is preparing to embark on the construction of the Centre for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) facility and the associated site improvements that will accompany that project. At present, the College is continuing to work through the relevant municipal processes en route to a planned kick off of construction activities later this month.
In terms of parking logistics, the College will continue to utilize the existing (a) Grafton Street parking lot adjacent to Glendenning Hall for student use, and (b) the Fitzroy Parking lot for staff use. In the interest of safety and security, a fence was erected around the Kent/Cumberland parking lot earlier in the week for the pending construction activities on the site. Effective 5 p.m. Friday, September 4th the Kent and Cumberland parking lot will be closed.
To offset the decommissioning of the Kent/Cumberland parking lot (116 spaces) alternate parking is now available at the Charlottetown Civic Centre Park Street parking lot (300 spaces)
To ensure that the Fitzroy staff parking lot is fully utilized effective Monday, September 7th the Fitzroy staff parking lot will be designated as “first come, first serve” for staff members with a valid blue staff parking permit. Having said this, as per past practice any staff member who is unable to find parking in the Fitzroy lot is welcome to park in either the Park Street or the Grafton street lots.
We would ask our staff to register for a blue rear view style parking permit, if they have not previously done so, with the Facility Management office to clearly identify their vehicle within the designated College parking lots. The old style permit stickers on the window will no longer be valid. All vehicles utilizing designated College Parking are expected to have valid Holland College permits in place by September 18th.
While the College will gain parking though this transition, we would also like to share that we are actively working on a plan to create a more direct path to and from the Park Street parking lot, and we will provide a more detailed update on this element in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Justin Dunn
